Cubieboard2 DualCard version, CB2-2Card for short, is the low cost edition of Cubieboard2. Compared with CubieBoard2, the only difference is the storage subsystem. CubieBoard2 has 4GB NAND Flash/ Tsd Flash on board but replaced with a micro SD card slot in the DualCard version. It is open source hardware very suit for developers, geeks, makers and some other research workers…
The CB2-2Card product is not only cost cutting, but also has some innovations in usage aspects. At least, there are three advantages in comparison with Cubieboard2. The first one is CB2-2Card has larger storage capacity potential. Since CB2-2Card has 2 micro SD card slots on the board, so that you can get more than 64GB storage capacity (32GB boot card + 32 GB data card) without connecting the HDD.
The second advantage is more flexible usage against Cubieboard2. Because CB2-2Card has two card slots, the one in the top side is used for data storage, and the one in the bottom side can be used for system storage. So you can change your operating system very easily, even not need to reflash the Nand Flash. If you have more TF cards on hand, you can seamlessly try more operating systems.
The third advantage is more open. As you know, NAND flash driver is most important bits of intellectual property for a commercial company like A20 main chipset vendor. This achievement researched and practiced by several generation chips will not easily open to publics. So that Cubieboard can only choose to work around this problem. We think system program running in SD card is the best choice for study and research works.
Because of the low cost main chip, rich interfaces and extended pins, and good open source software ecosystem, it has given rise to lots of creative projects and new products. With the passage of time, more and more expansion boards, subboards, modules, and development tools are available.

Product Introduction
Cubieboard2 DualCard is a variant of CubieBoard2 from Cubietech Limited company. Cubieboard is open source hardware that targets developers, geeks, makers…It’s the same PCB model with Cubieboard1. And it is enhanced computing power with dual-core main chip.
It’s not only for development, but also can be used in various areas as core-board or controller board. CB2-2Card integrates the most commonly used interfaces like the desktop PC but with such a small size board. There are 2 micro SD card slots, RJ45, 2 USB, HDMI, USB OTG, Audio input and output, SATA port, Infrared remote sensor on the board. In most cases, the interfaces are rich enough for software staffs. You only need to a 5V@2.5A power adapter to power it. HDMI display is needed to watch the system interface, but it’s not required anyway. You can use keyboard and/or mouse to control the system, connect ethernet cable to access network. This is the most simple situation to use it in my opinion.
If you want to take part in the development, some small tools and accessories would be needed. We usually use USB-UART cable to monitor the system running state and input some instructions. We would use USB cable to reflash the image or visit the operating system. If you want to make system boot media, a micro SD card and USB card reader are needed as well. If you want to simulatethe CPU, the JTAG subboard or TFcard board would be useful to connect the JTAG pins with the simulator.
CB2-2Card can also be used directly into some electronics products as controller board or core board thanks to its rich extended pins. There are 96 pins expansion header which is 2mm pitch on the board. We can change the header’s direction before the shipment if you have this application requirement. In addition, USB host port and power in connector can also be replaced by 2.0mm pitch pin headers. We think CB2-2Card already provides very large application opportunity for makers and startup team in product development stage.
Beside above simple introduction, more and more expansion boards and tools come out. Please keep an eye to the related products and news on cubieboard.org website.
